Use of a reserve or foreshore (including weddings)

Please allow at least 4 weeks for the request to be considered.

We aim to support all requests, however in some instances the proposed activity may not be deemed appropriate and therefore may not be approved. 

Wedding ceremonies are permitted on council reserves or foreshore areas for between 0-130 people (max), maximum of 2 hours, and are subject to a permit being granted. Wedding receptions are not permitted on council reserves or foreshore areas. Please submit a Wedding Application Form.

Casual, low-key gatherings such as BBQ’s and picnics with family and friends are permitted on council reserves or foreshore areas. An application or permit is not required for between 0-70 people. For gatherings over 71 people a permit is required. Please submit a Use of a Reserve or Foreshore Area Application Form.

If organising a community event, the Event Application form must be completed.

Weddings

The City of Onkaparinga has a number of beautiful reserves and stunning coastline suitable for holding wedding ceremonies.

These areas are public and exclusive use cannot be given, however we will record details so that other people enquiring about that particular beach or reserve on your wedding day can be advised.

Permit fees: $236.00  (GST exempt) - maximum 2 hours plus $15.90  Risk Administration fee - applied automatically to booking.

Check tide times for beach locations. Seasonal changes will impact the amount of sand, pebbles and seaweed on the beaches.

Throwing of confetti or rice is not allowed. Rose petals are permitted.

Casual gatherings

If you intend to bring in a third-party operator e.g food van, petting zoo, clown, face painter etc, please fill in a Use of Council Land application.

Permit fees: $132.00  (GST exempt) - more than 71 people; plus $15.90  (including GST) Risk Management Administration fee - applied automatically to bookings for individuals only.

Bookings for groups e.g. organisations/sporting clubs/social clubs etc. must have their own insurance and provide a Certificate of Currency confirming a minimum of $20 million in public liability insurance. Not eligible for Council's Risk Management Administration Fee.
