Beach Road West Christies Beach

The City of Onkaparinga is proposing to initiate changes to the Planning and Design Code to amend the planning policies within the area on the western end of Beach Road, Christies Beach.

The objectives of the amendment are to set out a development policy framework that encourages: activation, growth and redevelopment over the western end of Beach Road, Christies Beach.

The intent is to facilitate a destination precinct with a more active tenancy mix and broader residential outcomes.

The Code Amendment will further explore in more detail:

  • applying a new ‘Coastal Activity Centre’ Subzone to encourage a tourism precinct; and
  • allow residential development (in defined areas) ‘not in conjunction’ with commercial/retail uses or rezone these areas to Housing Diversity Neighborhood Zone.
