Becoming an Australian Citizen
The Department of Home Affairs manage all application inquiries for becoming an Australian Citizen.
Approved applicants for Australian Citizenship will be allocated to a citizenship ceremony by the Department of Home Affairs and will be sent a letter of invitation with the details for their ceremony. The invitation letter will include information on where your ceremony will take place, what time to arrive, what to bring with you on the day and how many guests can also be accommodated at the venue.

Citizenship Ceremony
Citizenship Ceremonies are a formal occasion during which candidates take the pledge of allegiance to Australia. Each ceremony takes approximately 1 - 2 hours depending on the number of candidates. Members of Parliament, Councillors and special guests are invited to attend each ceremony.
Each candidate will be required to bring with them on the night of their ceremony, photographic identification to assist with the registration process.
The City of Onkaparinga hosts regular Citizenship Ceremonies throughout each year, with a ceremony held annually on 26 January, Australia Day and on or around Australian Citizenship Day 17 September.
At present, guest numbers are restricted due to spacing restrictions, so please check your invitation carefully for full details.
Dress Code: Smart casual with traditional dress encouraged.
