Regulated and significant trees

Per the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, any activity that damages a tree identified as a Regulated Tree or Significant Tree is classed as development.

As such, the proposed activities against Regulated and Significant Trees require development approval:

  • Removal, killing, poisoning or destruction
  • Branch or limb lopping
  • Ringbarking or topping
  • Any substantial damage to the tree, including to its root system
