Council projects

Each year, the City of Onkaparinga delivers hundreds of projects to support our communities.

As part of our annual budget process, our elected members choose which projects will be funded from the council’s Project and Capital Works Program.

This includes buildings, carparks, footpaths, open space, roads and many more.

The need for individual projects are identified in various ways including:

community needs and expectations, as described in our Community Plan 2030
council strategies, policies and plans developed with input from our communities
response to legislative requirements
response to state strategic planning and investment
response to new development or investment in our city
response to requests for support from community groups, businesses, residents or landowners.

Aldinga Planning Projects

Coast Park Plan 2019

Since 2003 the City of Onkaparinga has been working in close partnership with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure to deliver the State Government’s Coast Park vision for Greater Adelaide to develop a coastal linear park including a 70km shared use path from North Haven to Sellicks Beach.

Community Wastewater Management System upgrade (CWMS)

The CWMS collection system within McLaren Vale is in need of a capacity upgrade to ensure that we provide a safe and reliable wastewater service to our customers now and into the future, and to ensure that we maintain compliance with our regulatory obligations.

Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) projects

The City of Onkaparinga is delivering dozens of local road and community infrastructure projects across the region thanks to more than $13.5 million in federal government funding.

Gateways to Ramsay Place Noarlunga

New roundabout for Aldinga

Construction has commenced on a new roundabout at the intersection of How and Aldinga Beach Roads in Aldinga.

Greengate Park upgrade Hackham

Greengate Park is being upgraded.

Reynella Oval sports lighting upgrade

Construction on the lighting upgrade is now complete with the lights installed and operational.

Beach Road wombat crossing Christies Beach

We recently engaged on a proposed wombat crossing to improve road safety for pedestrians crossing Beach Road near Rotary Park at Christies Beach.

Bice Oval sports lighting upgrade

We're upgrading the lighting at Bice Oval in Christies Beach.

Urban Creek Resilience and Recovery Project

We want your help, how you can get involved in the rehabilitation and ecological restoration of Serpentine Creek and Panalatinga Creek.

Christies Beach and O’Sullivan Beach public art projects

Two installations are now complete with the final installation of the ground mural in O'Sullivan Beach expected to be complete by March 2025.

Murray Road reconstruction Port Noarlunga

We are planning to improve Murray Road between Witton Road and Gawler Street, Port Noarlunga. Engagement closed 19 May 2024.

Bains Road reconstruction Woodcroft

Bains Road is now reopened with the majority of the 2024-25 construction works completed. Line marking and footpath works are scheduled for completion by the end of 2024.
