Assertive Youth Street Outreach Partnership Funding
We partner with Streetlight Inc. to deliver Assertive Youth Street Outreach program at various hotspots in Onkaparinga.
Background
The Assertive Youth Street Outreach partnership aims to engage young people in our communities including young people who are at risk of mental health, homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse, anti-social behaviour and social isolation. The project aims to provide practical, proactive and early intervention support and activities in identified hot spots within the City of Onkaparinga.
The program seeks to positively engage and build consistent and trusting relationships with young people while taking a person-centred and harm minimisation approach that is culturally sensitive and based on trauma-informed care. The program makes relevant referrals as required and works collaboratively with relevant services to ensure the wellbeing of young people involved and to leverage and ensure good and sustainable outcomes.
Hot spots include skate parks, public squares and reserves and playgrounds, and these are identified and reviewed quarterly by relevant Council staff in consultation with Streetlight.
Times of operation
- Niipu-Niipu Wama (Morton Researve), Christie Downs: Wednesdays, 4.30-6.30pm
- Aldinga Skatepark, Fridays 5-7pm.
Please note outreach may be cancelled in the event of inclement weather and may occasionally be re-directed to other sites as need arises.
