Venue accessibility guides

The City of Onkaparinga has created a series of accessibility guides to help visitors plan ahead their trips to community facilities.

Produced as part of an Aged Access Onkaparinga project, the guides contain user-friendly information including: directions, safety considerations, venue accessibility features and availability of accessible amenities, transport and parking options, what can be expected onsite, and site layouts for the following Onkaparinga facilities:

The new image rich, easy read guides were developed in consultation with key groups representing the older demographic of people who will likely use them - Every Generation Onkaparinga and the Onkaparinga Dementia Friendly Alliance of SA. Contributors had active roles in the onsite audits of the community buildings, and provided their perspectives on venue accessibility from arrival, during visit, and through to departure.

The aim is that through using the accessibility guides, more diverse and ageing community members will be able to participate in community life, and enjoy libraries, community and positive ageing centres, arts, cultural, sport and recreation venues, and with greater ease.

This project was supported by the Office for Ageing Well, Department of Human Services, through the Age Friendly SA grants program.
