Community Wastewater Management Systems (CWMS) Several areas within the City of Onkaparinga do not have access to SA Water’s wastewater network. For this reason, the council owns and operates a community wastewater management system (CWMS), to collect, treat and reuse or dispose of wastewater in these areas.
Alternative water network We operate a recycled water network that provides an environmentally friendly water alternative for the irrigation of open spaces. Our network supplies both treated stormwater and recycled wastewater.

Rainwater tanks New houses built in South Australia are now required to install a rainwater tank of at least 1000 litres. The tank must be plumbed into the toilet, to a water heater or to all cold water outlets in the laundry, and the inlet and overflow must be fitted with mosquito proof screens.
