ENCORE presents a series of activations throughout the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast region to get people out and about enjoying our spectacular coastal scenery and historic townships.

Activations spark local innovation, boost visitation and spending, support multiple industries, and foster community pride; celebrating the unique identity of each place while driving year-round economic growth.


Interested in hosting an ENCORE Summer activation?

Expressions of interest are now open to commercial businesses and incorporated associations to explore new, creative activation ideas in a live environment, that support our local community and showcase the diverse offerings of our region.

A range of sites are available from 1 December 2026 - 28 February 2027 and include prime waterfronts, pristine parks and bustling town centres. Whether it’s a coastal pop-up, adventure experience, cultural celebration or after dark soiree, if it attracts locals and visitors to our region we want to hear from you!

Before applying, read the Guidelines to understand the assessment criteria, the range of council support available to applicants, and the documentation required to submit an application.

Encore Summer 2026-27 Guidelines(PDF, 911KB)

Applications must be submitted via SmartyGrants online system. When ready click the 'Apply here' button below by 9am Monday 24 August 2026. Before you begin you will need:

  • Details about your activation (including concept, site plan, operating times)
  • Proof of public liability insurance (minimum of $20 million)
  • Risk assessment plan (template here(XLSX, 36KB) for guidance).

Precinct Activation Grant - OPENING SOON

The Precinct Activation Grant supports collaborations between local businesses, associations, and creatives for activations planned between 1 April and 30 September 2026 on private land. Grants of $1,500 to $10,000 are available to fund:

  • Night-time economy or seasonal activations
  • Activations that revitalise mainstreets, precincts, and underutilised spaces
  • New concepts or expanded offerings through business collaboration.

Support from council

We’re committed to helping make activations successful and sustainable. Through ENCORE, council offers a range of support services and resources, including:

  • Fee waivers for relevant permits/licences (over a three-year support period)
  • Funding for private land activations
  • Detailed activation site information e.g. site size, access, utilities, amenities, etc
  • Operational support (subject to availability and assessment)
  • Inclusion in council marketing campaigns
  • Guidance on approvals, lead times and stakeholder communication
  • Competitive activation fees, tailored to the season and type of activation.
