Gut Feelings: A community art & science project
Gut Feelings is a community outreach project exploring the vital connection between our gut, our environment, and our mental wellbeing through an imaginative fusion of science and art. It builds on the existing Gut Feelings Project, a collaboration between Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) Arts in Health, the Dietetics Unit, and Flinders University researchers, and now extends this work into local communities through public creative engagement.
This initiative will deliver a series of free community art-making workshops, and a public forum held in local libraries and community centres across the City of Onkaparinga. Participants will learn about the latest science on gut and local soil microbiomes; the microscopic ecosystems that profoundly impact our mental health, immunity, and resilience. These creative workshops, led by local artists and supported by microbiologists, dietitians, and Arts in Health clinicians, will translate complex science into accessible, hands-on learning experiences.
