We’re rapt to be a finalist in this year’s Minister for Health and Wellbeing Excellence in Public Health Awards.

Our innovative Living Well Matters program is a collaboration between older community members, partner organisations (Think Human and Zest Creative), and researchers from UniSA, creating a series of interactive free workshops and conversation groups focused on ageing well.

The workshops empower participants with up-to-date, evidence-based information in a friendly, social setting, with topics including managing retirement transitions, staying healthy in retirement, boosting mental resilience, and maintaining brain health.

The program has been designed to help participants build upon their own wisdom and experience with additional and up-to-date information, which can turn their personal insights into positive action. The interactive nature of the workshops supports a shared learning between the participants.

This partnership has enabled the City of Onkaparinga to act quickly, making research-based health information accessible to the community so they know how to reduce the risks of frailty, cognitive decline, and isolation.

We’re proud of the years of hard work that have gone into developing and delivering these programs, and we’re pleased to see our efforts recognised as a finalist in these prestigious awards.

Our goal is simple: to help our community members aged 50-and-up flourish as they age, tackling the challenges that come with getting older within a supportive community.

Workshops are held across the city regularly (subject to bookings). For more information, visit our ageing well webpage.
