Get involved

We work in partnership with many community groups and organisations such as Trees For Life and the Department for Environment and Water. This ensures that we get the best possible conservation outcomes while making sure that volunteers and our community are supported and stay safe.

There are hundreds of passionate people who work in partnership with us across our city to take part in activities such as:

• removing and controlling weeds that can push out native plants, wreck homes for wildlife and increase the risk of fire 
• monitoring the health of an area of native vegetation and native animals that live there
• growing and planting local native seedlings to improve homes for wildlife, stabilise soil and bring back native plant species that have disappeared from an area
• protecting and monitoring the nesting sites of an endangered beach nesting bird called the Hooded Plover
• planting events held across our city each winter 
• attending a Sustainable Onkaparinga workshops or event.

Your time and effort as an conservation volunteer will not only be rewarding, but it will make a real difference. There are many ways to get involved.

We need your help to find out more about where these animals live, so we can work out how and where to aim our efforts to care for their habitats as part of a council wide Ecological Linkages Study.
