• Looking to do a short story on the lawn bowls facility motion which came up last month. Would the council be able to comment on that at all?

City of Onkaparinga recognises the benefits of sport through our Sport and Active Recreation Action Plan and we’re strongly committed to supporting participation in sport and active recreation to drive healthy and active lifestyles.

 We partner with a range of stakeholders to deliver our Sport and Active Recreation Action Plan including sports peak bodies, which have an important role in sporting facility planning.

 As resolved by Council, we’ll partner with Bowls SA in the development of a state-wide lawn bowls infrastructure strategy, with a focus on identifying a current lawn bowls site that can potentially be considered for future upgrade to a regional scale bowls facility in the City of Onkaparinga.

This project is currently in the initiation phase with completion scheduled by Bowls SA for mid-2024. Preliminary findings from the Bowls SA project will be presented to Council in March 2024.
