Media statement – Councillor Gretel Wilkes resigns

City of Onkaparinga Mid Coast Ward councillor Gretel Wilkes this week tendered her resignation, effective today.

Gretel was elected to Council in November 2022 representing the Mid Coast Ward.

As the vacancy on Council occurs within 12 months of a periodic election, a supplementary election to fill the vacant Mid Coast Ward councillor position isn’t required.

City of Onkaparinga CEO Sharon Mason acknowledged the contribution Gretel has made to her community and her service in the chamber, wishing her well in her future endeavours.

The next local government elections will be held in November 2026.
