Destination Activation Grant - Encore Winter Activations

The ENCORE Winter Activation Grant supports collaborations between local businesses, associations, and creatives for activations planned during the 2027 winter (low) season.

Funding is available to support temporary, multi-day activations that encourage people to explore, stay longer, spend locally, and connect with our places and communities.

Funding available

Grants from $1,500 (min) to $7,500 (max)
Applicants must contribute a minimum of 25% towards the total activation cost
Applications open 1 September 2026
Applications remain open until available funds are exhausted
Deliver a minimum of two (2) activation dates across two (2) separate periods between 1 May and 31 August 2027.

What we're looking for

We're seeking activations that:

Create compelling nighttime or winter/ off-peak experiences
New concepts or expanded offerings
Foster collaboration between businesses, organisations or community groups
Activate underutilised spaces
Enhance the vibrancy of town centres, tourism precincts and public places
Showcase the unique character, products and experiences of the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast region.

Examples of activations include:

seasonal pop-ups
unique food and beverage experiences
festivals
workshops
markets
live performances
creative installations, and
innovative concepts that encourage winter visitation and local spending.

What funding can be used for?

Grant funding may be used to support costs directly related to the delivery of the activations, including:

Temporary infrastructure such as marquees, lighting, fire pits, staging, seating, sound equipment, etc
Artists, performers, musicians, facilitators or other creatives
Venue hire and place making elements
Marketing and promotional costs.

Who can apply?

Applications are encouraged from:

Businesses
Tourism and business associations
Volunteer-run community groups (through an eligible auspice arrangement).

All activations must demonstrate collaboration between at least two organisations, businesses or community groups.
