Primary School
Description
A small bluestone building with steeply pitched corrugated iron roof and gabled end walls and formerly detached brick classroom building with half gabled, hipped corrugated iron roof. The two buildings are now linked by contemporary additions. The integrity of the School group has been reduced by the demolition of the former schoolmaster's residence, which stood nearby.
History
The original schoolhouse was constructed in 1875. The classroom building at the eastern end of the school house was reported in the 1988 Heritage Review as being constructed in 1890 however its materials, detailing and style are more typical of S.A. education buildings of the early 20th Century i.e. this building is more likley to have been added after World War I. The building continues to be used as a primary school for the local community.
