The property and farmhouse, built in 1860 by James Clark was then known as 'Clark Hill'. James Clark also owned the mill at Old Noarlunga and Bellevue (McLaren Vale). The original building is built of brick and stone with a slate roof and corrugated verandah. The property was sold to John Snell in 1962 who built a small winery in 1963. In 1967, the property was sold and renamed to 'Coriole'.
