We congratulate the state government – particularly the Growth and Infrastructure Coordination Unit – in preparing the Infrastructure Schemes, which we see as a fundamental mechanism in the planning system.

We’re pleased to see the schemes being applied to areas such as Sellicks Beach to ensure new roads, stormwater management, water, sewer and electrical infrastructure is funded and delivered in a timely manner to new and growing communities.

We’ve been working closely with the state government from the commencement of the Sellicks Beach Code Amendment. We note, and are pleased to see, the Infrastructure Schemes have been underpinned and aligned to the council’s Sellicks Beach Structure Plan infrastructure investigations.

We’ll continue to work with the state government as they prepare and finalise their structure plan and subsequent Code Amendment to rezone land at Sellicks Beach for urban development and much needed housing in the outer south.

We want to ensure we get the best possible outcomes for the community, which includes good sustainable house design; green, usable open spaces; safe access and egress; and access to high quality essential services – things the community tell us are their top priorities.

Council will continue to advocate for commitment by SA Water to provide sewer infrastructure for both new and existing homes in Sellicks Beach – an essential service that is currently lacking in Sellicks Beach.
