  • Regarding the report about the revocating of land at Aldinga Beach/Sellicks Beach, what is the next step in this process?

The 18 June Council report was the final step in the legislated process to transfer two of council’s parcels of land to the minister of climate, environment and water for inclusion in the Aldinga Conservation Park.

The decision follows engagement with the community – which demonstrated strong support – and careful consideration from the local government minister on the potential impacts of the land revocation.

The land transfer demonstrates the council’s long-term advocacy and commitment to the protection of the Aldinga Washpool, which is one of Adelaide’s last remaining coastal freshwater and estuarine lagoon systems.

Council’s decision paves the way for the state government to incorporate the land into the conservation park, with its management to be guided by a park management plan that’s currently being developed by the state. It’s expected the draft plan will be released towards the end of 2024.
