Response to The Advertiser.

• There is a bit of disquiet in the ranks about the idea on page 403 that the mayor be able to performance review councillors. Onki Council watch says it would create a "dictatorship" and the people are responsible for performance reviews via the ballot box. I'm seeking a response from the Mayor and Council to this allegation.

The motion was put forward in direct response to requests and suggestions from some elected members to find ways of better managing minor behaviour issues that may not warrant a code of conduct.

It appears the members that were calling for improved processes are now comfortable to wait and see if any new processes might arise from the Local Government Reform Bill, or alternatively, are happy to maintain the status quo.
