Media response - Willunga entry signage
Published on 17 November 2022
Enquiry from Fleurieu Sun.
I'm wondering whether there will be new signage installed at the top of Willunga Hill, where there used to be a 'welcome to the district'- type sign. Here are a few questions:
- When was the Onkaparinga signage from the top of Willunga Hill removed?
- Why was it removed?
- What was the cost of the removal?
- Are there any plans to replace the signage? If so, when will this happen and what is the cost? If not, why?
- Any other comments or info you'd like to share.
When was the Onkaparinga signage from the top of Willunga Hill removed?
The large entry statement sign was removed in late November last year after a customer request reported it’d been damaged.
Why was it removed?
It was removed after council staff inspected the sign and found it was beyond repair, having been hit by a car.
What was the cost of the removal?
The cost to remove the damaged sign is included in council’s annual maintenance budget.
Are there any plans to replace the signage? If so, when will this happen and what is the cost? If not, why?
We’re currently reviewing welcome signage locations across the city and can’t currently confirm if and when a replacement will be installed in the same location.
