Response to the Fleurieu Sun.

We're going to be doing a Fleurieu-wide story on the ban for ocean-based swimming and surfing following the shark attacks.

• How would having no school ocean-based surfing and swimming lessons impact the council district?
• What control does the council have over beach closures?
• Are beaches at risk of closure to everyone this summer?
• If beaches were to close this summer, how would that impact your district?
• Sharks have always been here and bites have happened in the past. Do you think this ban is justified? 

While council has no responsibility in these matters, we always work towards making our beaches and coastline as safe as possible for the community in conjunction with SAPOL and Marine Safety SA.
