Serpentine Reserve BMX track temporarily closed - update

The Serpentine BMX track is currently closed following the discovery of asbestos-containing material at the site.

We have engaged a specialist consultant to undertake further investigations and develop a remediation plan. Remediation works are scheduled to commence in early April 2026 and will be carried out in the following stages:

Site remediation

Initial work will involve removal of asbestos, certification and removal of all soil. This work will involve statutory notification to SafeWork SA, establishment of an exclusion zone, airborne fibre monitoring and relevant certification.

Importation of clean fill

Following remediation works new certified clean soil will be imported to the site.

Reconstruction of BMX track

The BMX dirt jumps will be rebuilt at the same location in the same design using the new clean soil.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while these important works are undertaken. We anticipate the BMX track being reopened mid-2026.
