Who is collecting your personal information?

We manage and store records of your personal information in accordance with various policies, including our Information & Records Management Policy.  

What is personal information?

Personal information is information or an opinion about you or from which we can reasonably identify you.

When you use any of the facilities at our aquatic and recreation centres, including the Noarlunga Aquatic Centre, Aldinga Recreation Centre, Hub Recreation Centre, Noarlunga Recreation Centre or Seaford Recreation Centre (a Recreation Centre) we may collect your:

  • contact details (such as your name, postal address, street address, email address and telephone number);
  • biographical data (such as your date of birth and gender);
  • financial information (such as bank details), if you are purchasing any memberships to our Recreation Centre facilities;
  • government identifiers (such as Centrelink Reference Numbers, Department of Veteran’s Affairs Numbers and Pensioner Concession Card Numbers), if you are claiming any concessions or discounts;
  • information about people we may contact if you suffer an emergency  (including their relationship with you);
  • photographs, during your attendance at any of our Recreation Centres; and
  • video or audio recordings, including those which have been captured on CCTV during your attendance at any of our Recreation Centres.

Sensitive information is a subset of personal information that requires greater protection.

 We may collect information about your:

  • health, if you purchase any memberships for our Recreation Centre facilities;
  • racial or ethnic origin, including languages you speak;
  • religious beliefs or affiliations;
  • philosophical beliefs;

Unless stated otherwise, whenever we refer to personal information we are also referring to sensitive information.

How do we collect your personal information?

Generally, we will collect personal information directly from you. For example, when you interact with us face-to-face, via forms, emails or websites when using any of our Recreation Centres.

Sometimes we will collect your personal information from someone else, where we are lawfully entitled to do so. For example, where it is unreasonable or impracticable for us to collect it directly from you.

Why is your personal information being collected?

We collect your personal information:

  • to allow you to book or participate in activities offered at our Recreation Centres;
  • to process your membership or other payments in connection with using our Recreation Centres;
  • to assess your eligibility for concessions and other discounts;
  • to arrange medical assistance, if you suffer an emergency at our Recreation Centres;
  • to enable communication with your emergency contacts and authorised representatives;
  • to administer membership or other agreements with you;
  • to evaluate the services we provide to you;
  • to conduct other administrative functions which are relevant to how we provide our services, including accounting, human resources, information technology and legal support;
  • to distribute our promotional materials, host events and raise awareness about our services; and
  • to work with our contractors and service providers.

What happens if your personal information is not collected?

If you do not provide us with your personal information and deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym, we may be unable to provide the requested services, either to the same standard or at all. For example, we will be unable to process any memberships or provide you with information about services that you are interested in.

To whom will your personal information be disclosed?

Your personal information may be disclosed to:

  • our health and fitness industry contractors and service providers.
