Pick a Simple, Strong Theme

Keep it festive and clear:

Santa’s Workshop
Nativity Scene
Winter Wonderland
12 Days of Christmas
Christmas Movie Magic (Grinch, Elf, Frosty)

One idea, done well, stands out more than a cluttered float!

Use Free or Recycled Materials

Cardboard boxes = Gifts, signs, cutouts
Old sheets = Snow, curtains, or sky
Natural finds = Branches, pinecones, logs
Ask businesses for leftover paint & supplies

Create a Focal Point

Let one big element be the star:
Giant wrapped present
Little stable scene
Elf in the workshop
Reindeer made of cardboard
Homemade ornaments or paper snowflakes
Kids paint signs or decorations

Too many ideas? Focus on one to bring to life!

Add Movement or Sound

Portable speaker with carols
Bubble machine = instant “snow”
Someone waving or handing out goodies
Spinning snowflakes or dancing characters

Even small motion = big wow factor!

Pick a Colour Scheme

Red, Green, White
Blue, Silver, White
Gold, White, Red

Makes it look coordinated and festive!

Think Long-Term
