Vacant community facility - Main Road McLaren Vale
Published on 10 November 2025
The facility is located on a prominent corner site along Main Road, McLaren Vale, within the heart of the township’s vibrant tourism and retail precinct. This high-profile location offers excellent street presence and access to the local community.
There are a wide variety of cafés, shops and local services within walking distance, supporting easy access for staff, visitors and clients. The site benefits from convenient public transport, with a bus stop situated directly outside the facility and the Seaford Train Station approximately 10 minutes away. A shared onsite car park with the Country Fire Service (CFS) provides parking for 30 vehicles, including two (2) disabled access bays
The building features a largely open-plan internal layout, with partitioned offices, toilet amenities and breakout staff space, offering flexibility for fit out and use. It would suit a small to medium-sized organisation or could serve as a secondary office or flagship location for a larger provider looking to establish a presence in the southern region. The outdoor pergola, located at the rear of the property, may also be made available for use, subject to the applicant’s proposed activities and intentions.
This facility is classified as Community Land within the General Community Areas: Service & Social Facilities management plan, and Council is seeking expressions of interest from incorporated not-for-profit or community-structured organisations. Applicants should be able to demonstrate how their proposed use of the site will deliver social, recreational, educational or health-related benefits to the McLaren Vale and broader community.
This space presents a valuable opportunity for a community-focused organisation to activate a well-located facility and enhance the services available within this growing and dynamic region. Interested parties should note that it is not the intention of the City of Onkaparinga to invest in any building improvements or fund any new structures on the site. Funding for any intended fit out/building improvements, if required, would be the responsibility of the occupier, subject to Council's consent and development approval.
The level of occupancy for the successful applicant(s) will be determined through this expression of interest process. Council’s aim is to optimise the use of the facility, and multiple applicants may be approved where shared-use arrangements and complementary activities can be achieved.
Please note that submitting an expression of interest does not constitute an agreement between the City of Onkaparinga and the applicants, as there are several selection criteria that must be met. For further information, please refer to the Conditions of Request for Expression of Interest Process(PDF, 191KB).
Please submit your applications via the link below noting that applications will close at 3:00pm 28th November 2025.
