Council has been weighing up a proposal for a swim-only area of Aldinga Beach while also working with the state government to educate, provide signage and encourage reporting of jet ski misuse, with very few issues this summer.

Elected members resolved at last month’s Council meeting to pursue a swim-only area (vessel exclusion zone) around the Aldinga Beach Marine Park.

Vessel exclusion zones can be introduced by the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, Marine Safety, and the department requires Council to develop a submission after undertaking public consultation.

An engagement plan is being prepared for Council’s consideration to ensure the needs of all the community can be considered. We expect this will be considered by Council in July.
