• The journalist requested comments from the mayor about Aldinga-based Youth Recognition Awards recipient, Aella Kilgannon.

It was inspiring to hear the stories of the nominees and recipients at the Youth Recognition Awards ceremony, and also heartening to know our city's future is off to a great start in these safe hands.

Onkaparinga's young people and youth workers give so much to their community, but these stories often go untold, so it's fantastic we can shine a light on the efforts and achievements of people like Aella.

Aella's award also recognises the importance of volunteers and the impact of our community centres. We are eagerly awaiting to hear the outcome of our state government funding application to keep the good work being done by people like Aella happening in community centres.
