Media response - Old Coach Road closure, Maslin Beach

Response to The Advertiser.
- I'm just wondering if the council could please provide some comments to some frustrated locals regarding the closure of Old Coach Rd?
We’ll be implementing a full road closure of Old Coach Road, Maslin Beach, between Tuit Road and Oleander Road for road pavement reconstruction works.
The road closure will take place for a total of nine days from Monday 8 April to Tuesday 16 April from 7am to 6pm, which includes Saturday and Sunday. Access will be allowed for emergency services, public buses, residents and businesses within the work zone for the duration of the closure.
We’ve provided advanced notification to the community so they can plan accordingly, and traffic detours will be in place diverting drivers onto Main South Road during the closure.
We acknowledge the community’s frustration with the closure and the fact local and state government projects are happening concurrently in the area.
Our Old Coach Road repairs were planned more than three years ago due to its poor condition, predating the state government’s announcement of the Main South Road duplication works. The fact Old Coach Road served as a detour during the state government’s works deteriorated the road further and intensified the urgency for our repairs once Main South Road re-opened.
We're in frequent communication with Fleurieu Connections Alliance and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport to coordinate traffic management, minimise disruptions and keep the community informed.
We apologise for the inconvenience and thank residents for their patience and understanding while these critical construction works are underway.
For advanced notification of further road closures, which will be required in this section for final pavement treatment works, visit our Your Say page and Facebook page. Construction is scheduled to be completed late June 2024.
