The Potter family

Hurtle and Esther Potter moved into the area as newlyweds in 1906 before settling at this property in the Christmas of 1919. Their original property covered the area now bounded by Panalatinga Road, Investigator Drive, Pimpala Road and Thaxted Park Golf Course.

The Potter family were wheat farmers and also ran a successful chaff business, that supplied the local area. They participated in the development of their local community through their active membership in the Reynella Methodist Church and the Independent Order of the Rechabites. Hurtle was a Trustee for the Reynella Methodist Church from 1912 until his death in 1955 and Secretary of the Independent Order of Rechabites Salford Unity for 40 years.

Hurtle died on 27 November, 1955 at the age of 72, and Esther passed away on 21 April 1966, aged 81 years.
