Encore activation program
ENCORE presents a series of activations throughout the McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast region to get people out and about enjoying our spectacular coastal scenery and historic townships.
Activations spark local innovation, boost visitation and spending, support multiple industries, and foster community pride; celebrating the unique identity of each place while driving year-round economic growth.
ENCORE Winter Activation Grant
Applications open: 1 September 2026 and remain open until funds are exhausted.
Activation period: Activations must occur during the winter/off-peak season, between 1 May and 31 August 2027.
The Winter Activation Grant supports collaborations between local businesses, associations, and creatives for activations planned during the 2027 winter (low) season.
Grants of $1,500 - $7,500 are available to fund activities delivered over multiple dates, or an extended period, that contribute to increased visitation, economic activity, and vibrancy through:
- Night-time economy or seasonal activations
- Activations that revitalise mainstreets, laneways and underutilised spaces
- New concepts or expanded offerings through business collaborations.
Examples of activations include unique dining experiences, festivals and masterclasses, celebrations of culture, creativity and local history, art workshops and markets, light projections or digital art, live music and performances.
Grant funding may be used to support costs directly related to the delivery of the activations, including:
- Temporary infrastructure such as marquees, lighting, fire pits, staging, seating, sound equipment, etc
- Artists, performers, musicians, facilitators or other creatives
- Venue hire and place making elements
- Marketing and promotional costs.

Have a unique activation idea that doesn't fit within ENCORE Summer or Winter opportunities?
We welcome innovative proposals for activities on council-controlled land that activate public spaces, attract visitors and deliver benefits to the local community.
While an Expression of Interest is not required for these proposals, submissions will be assessed on their individual merits, including their alignment with ENCORE objectives, feasibility and potential community value. Eligible proposals will progress for further assessment and engagement.
