City of Onkaparinga begins search for new CEO
Published on 31 October 2025
The City of Onkaparinga has commenced its recruitment campaign for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with executive search consultancy Morton Philips managing the process, including all confidential enquiries.
This is a unique opportunity to lead South Australia’s largest metropolitan council, overseeing the delivery of more than 200 services and driving strategic outcomes for our growing community.
On Tuesday night, a special meeting of Council was held to discuss and decide on the key priorities for the next CEO, shaping the position description and supporting materials. Our elected members have carefully considered the qualities and attributes required for this important role, building on the strong leadership of outgoing CEO Phu Nguyen.
We thank Phu for his leadership, commitment, and energy over the past two years. His stewardship has strengthened and connected our organisation, with a clear focus on financial performance, culture, sound governance, and continual improvement.
Until a new CEO is appointed, Matt Buckell will continue acting in the Director Operations role, alongside Jani Baker, Director Community, Renee Mitchell Director Planning and Jade Bird Director Corporate.
