It’s really pleasing to have secured another funding contribution through the Coast Protection Board’s Coast Protection Grants Program after the $355,000 we’d already received through the program.
Combined with a $1.2 million Australian Government grant through its Disaster Ready Fund and the council’s $600,000 contribution, that’s a $2.4 million investment to protect Christies Beach’s iconic cliffs from erosion and sea-level rise.
We’ve done a huge amount of work for many years investigating how climate change and sea-level rise could impact Onkaparinga. This sea wall repair project is yet another example of how we then use this data in adaptation projects to protect our people and places.
A big thankyou to the state and federal governments for partnering with us on these important repairs.
