Identified as an original building from the 1850's, the building is built of brick and stone with corrugated roofs. The former stables are situated beside the main building. The stables were used as a changing station on the coach run from Adelaide to Willunga and is the only known changing station in South Australia that is not a Hotel. The dwelling was used as accommodation for the ostlers. The building is also believed to have been used at one stage for Methodist church services and as a place of residence for the employees of the Reynella Winery.
