In 1850 George Manning purchsed the property formerly known as 'Hope Farm' and built a homestead of 9 rooms constructed of stone and brick. A winery was built in 1855 which produced some of the first port and brandy in the colony. In 1892 the property was purchased by Walter Craven who renamed the property to 'Hope Vineyards' and constructed a new dwelling and modernised the winery. The property was again sold in 1948 and eventually renamed Seaview winery.
