Colleen Raven (Strangways) is a proud South Australian Arabuna and Northern Territory Mudbura Warlpiri woman.
Her imagery is an empowering medium that conveys diverse Aboriginal culture and voices. Her vision is a unique perspective from within a community empowering her people by this virtue alone.
She respectfully crafts her images to reflect the community she is representing with integrity and strength in her own cultural knowledge. Because of Colleen’s unique ability to capture award-winning photography she is being recognised on various national and international media platforms.
Colleen has spent many years working with over 50 different communities in Australia and has been sourced by NITV and ABC networks to showcase her works. She is committed showcasing her culture by telling stories through an Aboriginal lens and to pass on the photography skills and the knowledge she has learnt over the years to the next generation of emerging artists.
Colleen has been awarded the NAIDOC Business of the year award and the awarded the Glady’s Elphick in honour of Aboriginal woman who contributes substantially to the empowerment of Aboriginal people.
