Trade wastewater management

Trade waste is defined as the liquid waste from any industry, business, trade or manufacturing premises, other than domestic sewage.

A premises that generates trade waste may be required to install pre-treatment device(s) such as a grease arrestor to ensure that prohibited discharges do not enter the SA Water sewer system, the council CWMS or the environment via an onsite wastewater system.  Poorly managed trade waste can also interfere with the function of a septic tank.

When assessing applications to undertake wastewater works involving trade waste in our jurisdiction, the council applies the same trade waste policies as SA Water. For more information on trade waste please visit SA Water.
