Connect to the CWMS

Connect an existing allotment

If you would like to connect your existing dwelling to the CWMS it is advisable to contact the CWMS coordinator with your preliminary plans.  You will be required to demonstrate that the septic tank on your property is adequately sized and in good condition and that you can achieve connection in the CWMS.  It is the applicants responsibility to identify a suitable connection location and depth.

The applicant is responsible for all costs associated with any new drain infrastructure and the installation of the connection point.

All new allotments connected to the system will be subject to the CWMS levy (for the current charge please see fee and charges(PDF, 423KB)).

Minor land divisions (less than 5)

Generally a minor land division is the dividing of one parcel of land into five or fewer separate parcels.

From a CWMS point of view generally you will be required to demonstrate that all existing and proposed allotments can achieve connection in to the CWMS by accurately identifying the location and depth of all existing and proposed connection points.

The applicant is responsible for all costs associated with any new drain infrastructure and the installation of the connection point.

All new allotments connected to the system will be subject to the CWMS levy (for the current charge please see fees and charges(PDF, 423KB)) which must be paid prior to full development approval being issued.

Major land divisions (5+) and new non-residential connections

Any significant new flows into a CWMS catchment need to be assessed to ensure the system is not over capacity.  As a result any new non residential connection or significant land division (5+) may be subject to additional requirements including assessment of downstream infrastructure to ensure adequate capacity is available.

Please contact Councils CWMS coordinator to discuss these requirements further - CWMS@onkaparinga.sa.gov.au
