The Sport and Active Recreation grant recognise and support individuals and groups who reside in the City of Onkaparinga and who have been selected to compete and travel to a competition for sporting and active recreation events more than 250km away. This distance is applied to attendance at a single event, and does not include multiple journeys.
Grants of up to $1500 for groups, and up to $150 for individuals are available.

To be eligible for this program the competitor must:
Active recreation is where the primary purpose and focus of the activity undertaken is to engage in physical activity for its own sake
Sport is an activity capable of achieving a result requiring physical exertion and/or physical skills, which by its nature and organisation is competitive and is generally accepted as being a sport
Funding may also be available through the Australian Sports Commission Local Sporting Champions program. The Local Sporting Champions program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 participating in state, national or international championships.
