Event partnership
Onkaparinga is South Australia’s largest council by population, with 180,865 residents living in the region’s urban and rural communities.
Across 518 square kilometres, communities here enjoy beautiful unique natural environments including hills, vineyards, agricultural plains and national parks, and 31 kilometres of incredible coastline, all within the context of a rich, long, and continuing Aboriginal heritage.
You have the opportunity to align your business with the City of Onkaparinga and its long-standing major events portfolio.
The City of Onkaparinga values connection and overall wellbeing of its communities, residents and businesses, which is echoed in our Community Vision 2034. Major events support these goals through event attendance, participation and partnerships.
Our events
We have four major events annually from October to February.
Trucks on Tour
Trucks on Tour is a free community event hosted by the City of Onkaparinga. Designed to immerse children and their families in the workings of council’s trucks and vehicles whilst capturing their imagination as they climb into, explore and watch them at work.
The event is held annually during the October school holidays, designed to spark the imagination of both children and adults. Each year, the event draws around 4,500, mixture of families and truck enthusiasts.
Christmas Pageant and Christmas in the Park
The Pageant is an annual celebration of the festive season, typically held on the third or fourth weekend of November. It features between 50 and 60 floats representing local community groups, schools, and businesses.
For over 40 years, the Pageant has taken place along Beach Road in Christies Beach. Initially organised by a local community group, its growing popularity eventually required a larger management team, leading to the City of Onkaparinga to continue the tradition.
On average, the Pageant attracts around 8,000 attendees, while Christmas in the Park draws approximately 1,250 participants.
Australia Day Family Fair
The event is an annual community celebration held on Australia Day at the South Adelaide Football Club from 5:30-9:30 PM. Attendees are invited to bring their own picnic or explore a variety of stalls offering a diverse selection of food, refreshments, and unique products for purchase. The evening finishes off with a spectacular fireworks display choreographed to music.
Designed to be family-friendly, the event primarily welcomes local families and features a range of free activities along with an impressive line-up of entertainment. On average, the event attracts between 6,000 and 7,500 attendees
Beachside Food and Wine Festival
The event takes place annually in Rotary Park, Christies Beach, on the second or third Saturday of February, from 4-9 PM.
It’s a licensed event featuring regional wines, craft beers, ciders, spirits, and non-alcoholic beverages. Guests can enjoy live music, roving entertainment, and cooking demonstrations, all contributing to a relaxed festival atmosphere.
While the event welcomes all ages, it aims to attract individuals aged 25-35 and 36-45. On average, we host around 4,500 attendees who come to enjoy the laid-back vibe.
These events highlight our city’s vibrant community spirit and offer a unique opportunity to unite residents and visitors in celebrating various occasions, industries, and tourism assets.
By partnering with these events, your business can enhance its connection with the community and demonstrate its support for the region beyond your daily operations.
We have three package options for each event, noting they can be tailored to meet your business objectives in partnering with us.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us to discuss these opportunities further.
