In Fathom, objects gathered from Port Noarlunga are reimagined as sculptural forms, documented through photography and drawing. This work delves into the layers of personal and collective memory embedded within these materials, seeking to capture the traces of time and place they hold. Each item is carefully catalogued in an attempt to preserve the feelings and memories of the sites where they were discovered—a gesture to hold onto fragments of place even as the objects transform and settle into new roles. The rhythm of the ocean’s tides erodes rock, wood, and memory alike, reshaping them in a continuous state of change. Materials shift, merging and separating, leaving parts of memory behind while carrying others forward—a fluid motion that draws us onward, mirroring the passage of time.

About Anna

Anna Révész is an emerging artist based in Kaurna/Adelaide, whose work weaves memory, place, and contemplation into visual narratives. Holding a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Visual Arts) from Flinders University, Révész works fluidly across mediums, with a particular affinity for photography, which she sees as a way to capture, revisit, or even reinvent moments in time. Through both digital and analogue techniques, her work delves into the intricate nature of memory—how it is formed, maintained, and reimagined. Her process is often cross-disciplinary, drawing from multiple artistic influences to deeply explore themes of memory and place. Révész’s work invites viewers to slow down, offering a sense of calm and introspection amid the rush of modern life. Her exhibitions, both in Australia and internationally, include Light Traces, created during her residency at Studio Kura in Japan, Divine Machina at Praxis Artspace in Bowden, and Architecture of Memory at Linden New Art in St Kilda. Through these works, Révész creates contemplative spaces that engage audiences in a reflective experience, inviting them to linger in the subtleties of memory and presence.
