Kaspar Schmidt Mumm - Artist in Residence - April to June 22
PUBLIC PAPER PUPPET PERFORMANCE
Riverside Studio | 29 March – 27 June
Kaspar Schmidt Mumm’s residency explores large scale puppet construction using recycled materials.
With re-purposed steel frames, papier-mâché, wood, foam and fabric, he will construct, practice, characterise and animate a large kinetic sculpture. The artist will be rehearsing object oriented ontological choreography through endurance performances in both the gallery and studio space.
Through interactions with the public, the puppet will collect and retell local stories by reacting to visitors. All of these activities will amount to generating works with a narrative structure and a short performance to be premiered on the opening of the exhibition.
