Visiting visual artist Emiko Artemis examines the intersection of bodily movement and space through photography and video installation. Her compositions use symbology, evocative imagery and the natural world to capture connections between both the inner and outer landscapes of mind, body and the environment. The studio project 'Walking between worlds' will see Emiko explore the local river, forest, scrub and wetlands to then create costumes and props that share stories and present her experiences through a gendered lens.

SEEKING SECOND HAND unwanted CLOTHES

Emiko is seeking small donations of unwanted clothes to be sewn into costumes for use in creating the photographic series Walking between Worlds.

Re-purposing old clothes speaks to our contemporary obsession with the new and reflects the effects that consumerist consumption has on the natural balance of a sustainable environment. The donated clothes will be refashioned as costumes, gifting these garments a voice of their own in their new form.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Please feel free to leave clothes with office staff or drop off in the Riverside studio and chat with Emiko (usually in studio Thursdays).

Fortnightly walks around Port Noarlunga

As part of her investigations Emiko is planning to walk regularly, every second Thursday throughout the Port Noarlunga area and invites women and those identifying to join her as she explores the female space in nature.

Emiko anticipates the walks will last around an hour, walking in a different direction each time.

You will be welcome to join her in studio after the walk to discuss what you have experienced over a cup of tea.
