Migration
The City of Onkaparinga has a long history of migration. From the post 2nd World War period, up to 8th August 2006 a total of 31,327 migrants settled in the City of Onkaparinga. Between 2001 and 2005, the greatest numbers of migrants came from United Kingdom (1,371), South Africa (193), New Zealand (148) and Philippines (84), as shown in the table and chart below:

Migrants from the United Kingdom
Almost 61% of migrants to the City of Onkaparinga have come from the United kingdom (UK), which includes the Channel Islands, England, The Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
To June 2006 a total of 19,096 UK migrants had settled in Onkaparinga, and the great majority (15,450) arrived before 1991. As shown in the graph below, the number of UK migrants arriving in Onkaparinga declined to 97 in 2001, but has risen steadily to reach 571 in 2005. A further 211 arrived between January and August 2006.

The top seven migrant groups in the City of Onkaparinga (excluding the UK) came from New Zealand (4.7%), Germany (4.2%), Netherlands (3.5%), Poland (2.2%), Philippines (1.7%). Ireland (1.3%) and India (1%). The table below shows the numbers of migrants from the main countries of origin, up to August 2006:
