In 2006, the City of Onkaparinga had a lower percentage of residents receiving the Age Pension than South Australia as a whole (Onkaparinga 41.3% compared to 46.6% for SA). The percentage of the Onkaparinga population receiving other benefits was similar, but slightly higher than SA, in particular Newstart Allowance (+1.2%) and Parenting benefit (+2.7%). Centrelink benefits, Onkaparinga Statistical Local Areas (SLAs)
In 2006 the Hills SLA had the highest proportion of its population over 15 years (46%) receiving Centrelink benefits, mainly the Aged pension. The lowest proportion was in Woodcroft and Morphett SLAs (22%). (Woodcroft and Morphett SLAs have been combined for this analysis, as they share the same postcode (5162), and Centrelink data is reported at postcode level.)
