Local Government election, November 2006

Local Government elections are conducted entirely by post. Election material is sent to electors, bodies corporate and groups whose names appear on the roll of certified voters.

Voting at the last Local Government election closed on 10th November 2006. Counting revealed that, of the 118,054 voters enrolled in the City of Onkaparinga, 25,659 (21.7%) voted - the lowest voter response rate in the Adelaide metropolitan area. The average metropolitan response rate was 27.6%, the average country response rate was 42.1%, and the average for South Australia as a whole was 31.6%. Robe had the highest voter response rate at 63.4%, while the highest response in the metropolitan area was Walkerville, with 45.9%. The next Local Government election will be held on 13th November 2010.
