These, and other interesting facts about the City of Onkaparinga, feature in the latest edition of Stats & Facts.
- Development approvals in the City of Onkaparinga grew by 21% (almost $53 million) between 2005 and 2006. Total approvals for the two years exceeded $560 million, bolstered by developments such as the additions to Seaford Shopping Centre ($15 million), and new Aged Care facilities at Hackham ($17.6 million) and Seaford ($12 million).
- The City of Onkaparinga has the largest population of all SA Local Government Areas, according to the latest media release from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. With 156,037 people, Onkaparinga is larger than Salisbury by more than 32,700, and larger than Playford by more than 83,700 residents.
- Between 2002 and 2006 State school enrolments fell by over 1,700 and Private school enrolments rose by 639 students. Onkaparinga’s newest school is Gallilee Catholic primary school at Aldinga. Although private schools’ have an increasing share of the student population, State schools still provide over 74% of all primary and secondary schooling in the City of Onkaparinga.
- House prices in the City Onkaparinga rose by almost 70% between 2002 and 2006, rising from an average of $151,000 to $256,000. Vacant allotments increased from an average of $55,750 to $108,000 over the same four year period.
