South Australian Housing Trust (SAHT) tenancies in Onkaparinga, 2001 - 2006 SAHT tenancies in the City of Onkaparinga declined by 6% (244 tenancies) between 2001 and 2006. Of the twenty-six suburbs with SAHT housing, three experienced modest increases in the number of tenancies available, eight were unchanged and the remaining fifteen recorded decreases in SAHT tenancies. Morphett Vale had the greatest number of SAHT tenancies in 2001 (1,103) and experienced the largest loss, numerically, in the five years to 2006 (87 tenancies). (a) On 2nd May 2006 the Minister for Families and Communities, Hon Jay Weatherill MP, released a statement about the changing role of the Housing Trust. The future role will be that of a provider of high needs housing and urban renewal authority. Existing government housing agencies will be brought together to form Housing SA, which will focus on households in greatest need, and those who would have difficulty maintaining tenancies in the private rental market. The new agency will incorporate the Affordable Housing Trust, designed to meet the needs of low-income workers and their families. (b) SAHT tenancies, City of Onkaparinga, 2001 – 2006
