Bush for Life sites, City of Onkaparinga

The Bush for Life program involves the community in protecting and restoring South Australia’s rapidly disappearing bushland. The program involves the community and local government working together. Involved volunteers spend a few hours each month on weed control and encouraging regeneration of native vegetation.

Within the City of Onkaparinga, Bush for Life has established 40 sites on roadsides and reserves(a) – more than any other council in South Australia. In 2004 there were 101 active volunteers allocated to the sites within the City of Onkaparinga, contributing around 4,545 hours of bushcare work.
