Unemployment Rate

In March 2008 there were 5,110 unemployed people in the City of Onkaparinga, with an overall unemployment rate of 6.8%. This figure masks the wide variation in unemployment rates within the city, from 12.7% in the North Coast Statistical Local Area (*SLA), down to 2.2% in the Reservoir SLA.

The table and charts below show that unemployment in the City of Onkaparinga was higher than the Adelaide metropolitan average in the March quarter of 2006, 2007 and 2008. The overall unemployment rate for the City of Onkaparinga has declined steadily over the past three years, from 7.4% in 2006 to 6.8% in 2008.
